DC Trip - Lincoln Monument

Ten years ago we went to DC for my Hubineer's 50th Birthday,
and decided then, we would be back
to see the things we missed and loved once again.
This time we were celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary!
While visiting the Lincoln Monument, last week,
we got caught in a down pour.
(Love his happy face!)
The breeze around this corner was refreshing after
being shoulder to shoulder with all the wet warm bodies
swarming around Lincoln's statue!
This Memorial is always a favorite stop for me...
Lincoln is my favorite President.
This statue is amazes me!
"The statue, originally intended to be only 10 feet (3.0 m)Template:Convert/track/adj/ tall, was, on further consideration, enlarged so that it finally stood 19 feet (5.8 m)Template:Convert/track/adj/ tall from head to foot, the scale being such that if Lincoln were standing, he would be 28 feet (8.5 m)Template:Convert/track/adj/ tall."
(Here for more info.)
And I always expect to see Forrest here..."Forrest Gump", that is
(you know, "run Forrest, run" - I'm also a big Tom Hanks fan).

DC may not be a romantic place for an anniversary,
but we only had a week for our get away,
so Hawaii was out,
and we both wanted to go back to DC...
the atmosphere isn't what matters
when you're with your best friend,
lover, and soul mate.
You make it what it is!
Happy Click'n!

  1. i got a spanking on the steps right under President Lincoln on his chair, i was 8 and did not want to be there.... i got a lot of spankings on the two week trip from GA to Niagara falls, NY City included.

  2. Such a sweet post. Spending time with your hubby and visiting such a fascinating place. I adore your photos of the statue!
