Orange You Glad It's Friday ~ Oranges!

Last May, on a whim, I purchased an orange tree.
Oranges, being one of my favorite fruits,
seemed like a fun thing to try growing
and a little nuts if you live in Oklahoma, like we do.
Our tree produced flowers right away.
Surprisingly, fruit followed even though I have "brown" thumbs.
Bringing the tree indoors before the first frost wasn't a problem.
Now it's late February, and the fruit are still turning orange
but have yet to be sweet.
I decided to harvest the fruit and give this lovely tree a rest.
I found some orange tree fertilizer and
gave it a dowse, hoping this will help sweeten the next crop!

Monday Mural ~ Yukon Longhorn Drive

This mural is on the side of
Baker's Photography Store in Yukon, OK.
and depicts the Chisholm Trail Cattle Drive (more here).
Yukon was founded by A.N. Spencer in 1891,
and was named for thYukon River in Alaska.
Yukon is the birth place of Garth Brooks, don't you know.

Sunday Cat Selfies ~ Tunaholic

"Oh, man, we're out of tuna!"
We always have tuna around here... my old lady spoils me.
Mom will fix this.
That's right Bogey Bear.  Don't you fret...

Black & White Wednesday ~ Sneet and Icicles

The weatherman finally guessed right...
sneet fell upon us the other night and
we got a few icicles too.
Chicken tortilla soup simmering in the slow cooker
was my reward for shoveling the driveway that afternoon.
I love a plan!
Black and white just seems the way to go
when it snows.

Macro ~ Black and White Flowers

"Don't you think daisies are the friendliest flower?"
- Kathleen Kelly, You've Got Mail
Yes, I do, though daisies aren't my favorite flower, they do make me happy.
Flowers are like a good hug, they always warm my heart!

Orange You Glad It's Friday ~ Lake Leaf

For joy, the pending ice storm is fizzling out!
I don't regret purchasing that snow blower three years ago, at all.
In fact, that snow blower is still in it's box
and there it shall stay.
Superstitious? No. Maybe.
Why mess with what is working for us?

Signs ~ Guffaw!

I don't think so!
Sitting outside devouring the best ever coney,
I nearly choked when I saw this sign....hahahaaha...

Black and White Wednesdays ~ Stain Glass

Stain glass windows have always caught my eye.
I'm the crafty type and would love to make
stain glass sometime,
though I have too many hobbies as it is!
This is my shot for "Black and White Wednesdays"

Original shot of an abandoned farm house with a
stained glass window still intact.

Outdoor Wednesday ~ The Nunnery!

The Broken Arrow Nunnery is going down...
local mother's can no longer threaten their daughters with,
"If you don't straighten up, I'm sending you to the Nunnery!"
Even this step mom said that at least once.
(Taken from across the street.)
Our Lady of Sorrows Convent has been abandoned for a couple years
and it was recently announced that this building will be demolished
(more here).
With grand visions. I drove to the nunnery this morning.
I was looking forward to
capturing unusual shots of the statues in the courtyard and maybe even
venturing inside to take photos of the stained glass.
Those plans got snuffed out...
Don't tell anyone,
but I got kicked off the property for trespassing!
I was so disappointed.
I'm sharing this little adventure with
"Outdoor Wednesday" (here).

Our World Tuesday ~ Hudson Lake

Another unusually warm day in Oklahoma!
Instead of working in the yard, which we desperately need to do,
we decided to enjoy the outdoors at a near by lake.
Making it a great day to test my new zoom lens.
I caught my husband skipping stones.
It was nearly impossible to determine where he would throw it...
I  actually snapped a stone in flight
and a twig that reminded me of a snake with his mouth open.
Just goofing around and enjoying nature!

Blue Monday ~ View of Hudson Lake

Happy Blue Monday!
This is my first time to link to "Blue Monday".
Saturday we went for a little drive to
Hudson Lake (Oklahoma).  Though,
we should have been working in the yard, what
the heck. We threw the idea of being productive out the window
and don't regret it at all!

Monday Murals ~ Salina Sunflowers

I've always wanted to paint a bigger
then life mural.
This one, located in downtown Salina KS.,
has the most wonderful bright colors.
I had to sit our grandson down for a quick photo shoot.

Macro ~ This, I love!

Flickr's MacroMondays theme  ~ "This, I love"! (here)

I love this BAD Boy...
except when he poops on the carpet.
Yeah, I want to chase him around the house
when that happens.
But NO, he'll just sit there hoping this gesture is getting across.
With his fist high.  He wants tuna.
"Bad to the bone"!
Good thing he is pretty.
