Flickr Macro Monday ~ Pareidolia

As a child one of my favorite things to do was lay in the grass with my best friend looking up at the sky pointing out what the clouds looked like.  Little did I know this has a name: pareidolia.  Sounds naughty.  Anyways, that is the theme for September 16th's Flickr's Macro Monday.
Singing electrical outlets.
Actually, more like my face when I saw Psycho for the first time.
Pareidolia is a psychological phenomenon that makes an image into something far more noteworthy. The human brain can create meaningful and significant shapes. It is a way to make sense of random or ambiguous patterns where none really exists.  A fascinating article about the science behind this phenomenon can be found here.
I don't know what this is but it reminded me of a toad
so I put it on a Lilly pad.
One of my jewelry making tools from my toolbox.
Look at that goofy grin!
Once you start looking for faces or likenesses of  living things in inanimate objects, it's hard to stop.  You start feeling vulnerable.  Maybe they will think I'm crazy, but doesn't this next one look like a skier with a stocking cap?!  Or is it just me?
You only think I'm a tool! I'm a downhill racer....
Dude in a stocking cap.
(A nctually a manual drill)
I was about to pass on this theme and glad I didn't because it was a lot of fun.   I'm kind of happy with this last shot and will submit it.
If you get bored, look around and see what you can see.
Enjoy your day!

  2. Oh, I so loved these, and so agree on them...the one that you said was a toad I could not think what in the world it made me think of till you said and you so got it right. I seen the guy and his stocking cap. I did think snow but didn't think about him being a skier. Saw carolers in the first...

  3. That is JUST so cool! I'm always seeing creatures in the clouds or even in the forest! Logs and trees that look like something else! It's FUN! You have some perfect examples!
