Smile on Saturday - Mugs with Words
I was invited to join a themed group on Flickr that posts on Saturdays. They're a themed group and this Saturday's theme is "Mugs with Words". The other morning while looking for stocking stuffers, I ran across perfect mugs with words for our adult kids. This Santa helper will enjoy the laughter on our celebration morning. But for this Saturday's theme, I wanted to post one of my favorite coffee mugs. It says "Uff da" which is an "exclamation or interjection expressing bafflement, surprise, or dismay brought to us by Scandinavian Americans." This cup was a gift from one of my son in laws' mother. She is a dear soul and I'm blessed to have gotten to know her. When she learned my DNA test showed I had Swedish blood she shared this phrase that covers so many feelings and it's such a great mug to drink my morning coffee as I ponder which Uff da meaning will apply to my day. Generally my days bring "bafflement", so hear this my blogging friends, "Uuuffff daaaa"!
Happy Click'n!
LOVE the cup, and no bafflement on that photo, it plainly speaks. YUM is what is says. I like the word. Bob knows several curse words in German Dutch, his dad used to get mad and say a few things like when he hammered his thumb. of course bob remembers them... I don't know how to spell them but gutzfadump and achtoleba are is favorite.
ReplyDeleteWell, I learned a new phrase. Now if I will remember it, that's another story.
