I Cain't Say No...

I don't know if this would be considered a candid shot.  He didn't know I took it, he didn't pose, so maybe it is.  I'm not good at taking portraits, but I'm blessed with a photogenic family, so what my skills lack, their ability to be relaxed in front of the camera helps. I prefer candid photos and I need to practice taking them.  It's hard.   Young people are so use to posing for selfies, it comes second nature to them. And so often, out of the corner of their eye, they see me and my camera aimed at them. Before I can stop them they are posing.  What do you do then?  Walking away would be rude, so I take the shot while making grumbling noises.

The story behind this shot is, I was busy taking photos of our grand daughter's softball team.  I happened to turn and saw this guy in my chair and drinking MY pop!
I called Jack's name, and got this adorable expression.
Those wheels are turning in that sweet head of his.
In his eyes, I see, "I had a shot and saw no danger!"
I couldn't do anything but laugh, he stole my heart years ago so I'm doomed.
This boy is a deep thinker, and observes, and then he acts.
I think he is a classic old soul or a cat burglar.
Enjoy your day!

  2. Oh, yes, I consider these candid...even that last shot. I think he smiled cause he had been 'caught' and knew there would be no repercussions. I am not good with people photos at all...mainly cause I don't like mine being taken, specially posed shots...so I always think how I feel. Anyway, you did great with these...I love them all.
