Caturday ~ Little Pill

Katie was spoiled even before she had a stroke  (this summer), and yes, if you can spoil a pet more then that, I have.  She is doing well these days. She's still weak on her right side and walks a little drunk.  Though getting better each day.  She is venturing out of what I'm calling her room (our bathroom) on her own but not often. Eating well, climbing the stairs I made for her to get on our bed and jumping down from the bottom step.  She goes to the sunny part of the house to enjoy the warmth of the summer sun to take naps (not too far from her room).

I've had cats for many years and given them medicine before.  Some have been harder to administer pills to.  It seems like my female cats have always been cranky about pill time.
Katie is very sly about not swallowing her meds.  The Vet tells me Katie curls up under Crystal's chin while being held and it's not a problem at pill time for Crystal, that is (she's a professional), and spends time in Grace's office when Katie spends the day at the Vet Clinic and talks all day to Grace keeping her company.  They are the best Vet and staff in Tulsa in my opinion!
Katie can shape her tongue in such a way as to blow the pill out the side of her mouth.  She has even attached the pill to my finger and I walk away with the pill.  She will hide pills in her cheek like a chimpunk (chipmunk), too!  These are important pills for high blood pressure so I'm watchful and make sure she takes them someway, somehow.
Yes, cantaloupe!
These are quartered pills so they are small and have rough edges so I tear off a small piece of cheese or of Pill Pockets to cover them.  And I've tried different flavors.  This morning at pill time she did the old chattering teeth routine (like those old windup toy dentures).  I finally got it in her mouth and thought she swallowed it, but instead she  dropped it in her dry kibble.  I picked it up and administered it again.  She didn't fool me when she was eating her canned food and dropped it in there with all the Pill Pocket removed.  Talent!
The PILL finally took her PILL!

Took all these photos with my old iPhone 6 +,
which is always handy.
Enjoy your day!

  1. She is definitely I phone candy. so beautiful and so happy you got that pill down her. sorry to hear about the stroke, I have never heard of a cat having a stroke and did not know it could happen... you are blessed to have the vet and assistant.. we do not love our vet. our vet of 28 years retired and the new one is a pill himself and hard to take.

    1. I've been lucky with my current Vet! We have been going there maybe 16 years.

  2. The two cats I have now...I am so thankful to not have need pills ...they are masters at avoiding pills, too. I have had a lot of cats, and these two are pros.
