Garden Walk

It's the beginning of a new week and a day of rest.  A beautiful sunny day in Oklahoma.  Not much going on, so I decided to walk around our garden and take a few pics of the last of our summer flowers and whatever else I could find to take photos of.
Summer is all about the flip flops in my world, and ignoring our garden as much as possible.  Twenty years ago I thought I was a gardener and I continue to pay the price for that idea.  When we put in the landscape, I remember specifically asking for low maintenance.  Little did I realize all gardens and yards need maintenance.  Some just more then others.  We are blessed to live in a state that has seasons and I've got 49 more days to go before this season breaks for the next.
Below; these blue balloon flowers have done really well around the edge of our gardens for years.  And they are about as showy as the yellow day lilies.  But we had too much rain for the day lilies this year so I have no lilies blooming right now.
This is a wild Petunia plant (below) and is the last one to survive my  wonderful care.  It is beautiful in the Spring.  By this time of year it gets pretty stressed.  Actually, I think I tried to kill it, because it looks so bad right now.  And that was 2-3 years ago.  It is a fighter!
Japanese Maple leaves are so pretty when back lit and so dainty.
Originally, I had several bunny statuettes in and around the garden.  This guy has seen better days.  I just can't seem to get rid of it.  I won it at a Garden Show and its my only evidence I actually won anything before.

Don't let anyone tell you Vinca isn't hardy in our  Oklahoma climate.  I bought these back  in June and they are doing great....hmm, I'll get them in the ground tomorrow.  That's obvious a big fat lie at this point in the summer.
How many steps was that?  224.
Okay, I can't say I vegged out all day!
Enjoy your day!

  2. I really have never been good at keeping flower gardens clean, but was good with vegetable garden. I would like to do better with flowers. I picked up bulbs today and have no idea where I am planting them...except I think I have decided about one.
