Flickr Macro Monday ~ Nine

"99 bottles of beer on the wall,
99 bottles of beer.
Take one down and pass it around,
98 bottles of beer on the wall...."

Macro Monday Sept. 9th Theme is Nine and a little explanation to follow:
"On the Ninth day of the Ninth month the theme is the number NINE.  You can photograph 9 items, the number 9 itself, a word with 9 letters, an object shaped like 9, etc."

A pretty open theme creatively.   Early this morning, I was awake (1:05 am) and couldn't go back to sleep, so I got online to checkout what photos Flickr' had already had been submitted.  I picked one of my shots that was a bit different.  May be not my favorite shot but different. I didn't see anything similar on their site.  Now once I'm up for the second time for the day, and having viewed the Flickr  macros once more that had additionally been submitted.  I decide I really should have gone with my favorite shot.  Period.  Years ago when I was active in this group, you could post at least two shots. I miss those days!  I'll just have to learn from this experience/mistake.

The below domino grouping, I tried different combinations for the sum of nine.  I had trouble getting the DOF right and everything lined up just right. If doing now, I would arrange differently.  I was tired by the time this was taken and a little frustrated with my settings on my Sony. (They are much different then my canon.)  And probably hindered my use of my new adapter (Sigma Converter MC-11). All but one shot was shot in the Manual setting (only one in AP). I haven't shot macros in manual before and things started falling into place, a good learning experience. I think this was my last shot after 2-3 hours; below.

Below is one of my favorite.  Simple colors and simple composition.

In my past, I was a drafter, and currently make jewelry as another hobby, so these measuring tools have some meaning to me. And in many ways, are antiquated for modern use. But I love these tools even so and find them interesting as subjects.

Another arrangement below...

"Dressing for the Nines", was another interpretation I liked working with and it makes for an interesting macro.  I arranged nine crystal stud earrings on the lapel of an old suit in the shape of, what?  A nine.  I like the "nine" groupings of round bokeh bouquets ….another shot I would have submitted.
1/160 sec f5.6 ISO 2000 AP
And last but not least,  a pair of my dangle earrings that I found in around my jewelry making work bench and wanted to share.  Nothing really nine about this, but I do love the color and remember the peace I felt making them.

Maybe a Monday faux pa, but I will learn from this and move on!
Who knows maybe a lot of photographers from New Hampshire will comment on Flickr
and make me feel better on my submittal....who knows!

Enjoy your day!
